Who We Are
ReelToast is a product of Westley Leon Studios, a wedding photography and videography company based in Niles, Michigan, United States. When we say "we," "us," or "our" in this policy, we mean Westley Leon Studios and the ReelToast application.
When we say "you" or "your," we mean anyone who uses the ReelToast app, visits our website (reeltoast.com), or otherwise interacts with our services.
What ReelToast Does
ReelToast is an iPad application that allows event guests to record short video messages at a kiosk. The app is operated by a professional (such as a wedding filmmaker, DJ, or event planner) who sets up the iPad at an event. Guests interact with the kiosk to record video messages, which are saved directly to the iPad's local storage.
Information We Do NOT Collect
This is the most important section of this policy. ReelToast is designed with privacy at its core:
- No cloud storage or transmission. All video recordings, audio files, and event data are stored exclusively on the iPad running the app. Nothing is uploaded to our servers because we do not operate servers that receive your content.
- No personal information from guests. Guests who record messages at the kiosk are not asked to provide their name, email, phone number, or any other personal information. The app records video and audio only.
- No facial recognition or biometric data. While the app records video that contains faces, we do not process, analyze, or store biometric identifiers or biometric information. Video is simply saved as a standard video file.
- No tracking of guests. We do not use cookies, pixels, device fingerprinting, or any other tracking technology within the kiosk recording experience.
- No sale of data. We do not sell, rent, lease, or trade any personal information to third parties. Period.
Information We May Collect
While the core app is entirely local, there are limited circumstances where we may receive information:
App Store Subscription Information
If you subscribe to ReelToast through the Apple App Store, Apple processes your payment and manages your subscription. We receive confirmation of your subscription tier and status from Apple, but we do not receive your credit card number, billing address, or Apple ID password. Apple's handling of your payment information is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
Apple App Analytics
If you have opted into sharing analytics with app developers through your iOS/iPadOS settings, Apple may provide us with aggregated, anonymized usage data such as the number of app sessions, device type, iPadOS version, and crash reports. This data is not personally identifiable and is used solely to improve the app's stability and performance. You can disable this sharing at any time in your iPad's Settings under Privacy & Security > Analytics & Improvements.
Voluntary Communications
If you contact us for support, submit a feature request, apply for our beta program, or send us feedback, we will receive whatever information you choose to provide (typically your name and email address). We use this information only to respond to your inquiry and, if applicable, to manage your participation in our beta program. We do not add you to marketing lists without your explicit consent.
TestFlight Beta Testing
If you participate in our beta program through Apple's TestFlight, Apple may share your email address and basic device information with us for the purpose of managing the beta program. TestFlight's data handling is governed by Apple's privacy policies. We use this information solely to manage beta access and communicate about the testing program.
Website Analytics & Advertising
Our website (reeltoast.com) uses the Meta (Facebook) Pixel to measure the effectiveness of our advertising campaigns and to serve relevant ads to visitors who have interacted with our website. The Meta Pixel collects data such as your IP address, browser type, pages visited, and actions taken on our site. This information may be used by Meta to show you ReelToast ads on Facebook, Instagram, and other Meta platforms. We do not sell this data to anyone - it is used solely for our own advertising purposes.
We may also use privacy-friendly analytics tools to measure page visits and traffic sources in aggregate. You can limit ad tracking by adjusting your browser's cookie settings, using browser extensions that block tracking pixels, or opting out through Meta's ad preferences.
How Data is Stored and Who Controls It
The event operator (the professional using ReelToast at an event) is the controller of all video recordings and event data created through the app. This data resides on their iPad and is their responsibility. We (Westley Leon Studios) do not have access to, and cannot retrieve, recordings stored on your device.
Event operators are responsible for:
- Obtaining any necessary consent from event guests for video recording, as required by applicable laws in their jurisdiction
- Securing the iPad and its contents
- Managing the export, sharing, and deletion of recordings
- Complying with any applicable privacy regulations regarding the recordings they create
Promotional Use of Recordings
Guest participation at a ReelToast kiosk is entirely voluntary - no guest is required to record a message. By choosing to record a message at the kiosk, guests acknowledge that their recording may be used by the event operator (the photographer, videographer, DJ, or other professional running the kiosk) for purposes including but not limited to: delivering the final guest book to the couple, incorporating clips into wedding films or highlight reels, and sharing clips on social media or marketing materials to promote the operator's services.
Westley Leon Studios (ReelToast) does not independently collect, access, or store guest recordings. However, event operators may choose to share select recordings with us for the purpose of promoting ReelToast - for example, as a testimonial or product demonstration. In such cases, the operator is responsible for obtaining appropriate consent from the individuals appearing in the recording before sharing it with us. We will not use any shared footage without the operator's explicit permission.
Third-Party Services
ReelToast integrates with or relies on the following third-party services:
- Apple App Store & StoreKit - for subscription management and payment processing
- Apple TestFlight - for beta distribution (beta participants only)
- Meta (Facebook) Pixel - for website advertising measurement and retargeting (website only, not within the app)
We do not integrate with data brokers or sell data to any third party. The app itself does not contain ads.
Children's Privacy
ReelToast is a professional tool intended for use by adults (event operators). While guests of all ages may interact with the kiosk at events, we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or under 16 in jurisdictions where applicable). Since the app does not collect personal information from any guest, this concern is inherently addressed by our design.
Your Rights
Depending on where you are located, you may have certain rights regarding your personal information. Because ReelToast collects minimal personal data, most of these rights are addressed by our design. However, for completeness:
If you are a California resident (CCPA/CPRA):
- You have the right to know what personal information we collect - which is described in this policy
- You have the right to request deletion of your personal information
- You have the right to opt out of the sale of personal information - we do not sell personal information
- You have the right to non-discrimination for exercising your privacy rights
If you are located in the European Economic Area (GDPR):
- You have the right to access, correct, delete, and port your personal data
- You have the right to object to processing and to withdraw consent
- Our lawful basis for processing any data we receive is either your consent (voluntary communications) or legitimate interest (app analytics for stability)
For all users:
- You may request a copy of any personal data we hold about you
- You may request deletion of any personal data we hold about you
- You may opt out of Apple's analytics sharing at any time through your device settings
To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the information below.
Data Retention
Because recordings are stored locally on the event operator's device, we have no role in their retention or deletion. Event operators control how long recordings are kept.
For data we do receive (support emails, beta applications), we retain this information only as long as necessary to fulfill the purpose for which it was provided. Beta program data is deleted within 90 days of the program's conclusion. Support correspondence is retained for up to 12 months for reference, then deleted.
Data Security
All data within the ReelToast app is protected by the iPad's built-in hardware encryption and the security features of iPadOS. The app does not transmit data over the internet during normal operation. Subscription verification is handled securely through Apple's StoreKit framework using encrypted communication with Apple's servers.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or other factors. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
If we ever introduce features that involve cloud storage, data transmission, or expanded data collection, we will update this policy before launching those features and will notify existing users through the app.
